meeting in the Fall will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 7:00 pm in
Room 500! Come and
join us! Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month.

you for your support during the 2007-08 School Year!
As an organization dedicated to helping the music department at our
middle school, we thank you for your part in supporting the Milford
Middle School music program this past year. It was our best year
ever! Our fundraising in 2007-08 focused on continued support of
the MMS Music Department and the students involved in the music
programs.

Thanks to both Ms. Erickson and Mr. MacArthur for all
that you do!
Not only were the
concerts wonderful (Holiday Concerts in December 2007, and the
Spring Concerts in June 2008); but both the MMS 8th grade Band and
Chorus attended the Great East Festival on May 23, 2008, and both
received
Gold Award
for their performance in that festival! What an honor!
We really appreciate having two such dedicated and wonderful teachers at
our middle school. THANK YOU!

Thanks to all of the parents and students for your
support & assistance in 2007-08.
As a result of your support, our organization was able to
accomplish the following for your MMS Music Department:

Purchase 2 additional timpani (over
$2000) for the MMS Band,
-
Purchase band t-shirts for each
incoming member of the MMS Band,
-
Provide t-shirts to the MMS Chorus for
the Great East Music Festival,
-
Fund transportation
($1600) for the MMS 8th grade
Band & Chorus to attend the Great East Music
Festival,
-
Provide 5 full scholarships ($2875) to
deserving MMS Music students to attend the Summer Youth
Music School at UNH-Durham for the Summer 2008,
-
and MORE!
You supported our efforts while we sold Entertainment
books; played & sang Christmas Carols at County Stores in
November, and at the Shop 'Til You Drop Holiday Fair in December; and
sold tickets to the Charmingfare Farm Holiday Hayride. You
chaperoned parades, fundraisers, Holiday Concerts at MES-HP, and the
Great East Music Festival! You also supported our bake sales at all
of our Holiday & Spring Concerts. Thanks for your support in
donating baked goods, working the bake sale, buying baked goods, and
supporting our raffles! Special thanks goes to Mr. MacArthur’s Mom for
the wonderful cakes that she donated for our Band Concerts, and to all
of the parents who tirelessly support this program!

Summer Music Study:
Our Music Booster Organization has again chosen to award scholarships
for summer music study! This year, we were able to award 5 full
scholarships: 4 full scholarships to 8th grade students, and 1 full
scholarship to a 7th grade student.
Our Scholarship Recipients for the 2007-08 School Year are as follow:

7th grade: Michelle Sprague
At this point (2007-08
School Year), our scholarship money has been awarded; however, if you
are looking into having your students attend a summer music program and
need information, please contact Mr. MacArthur or Ms. Erickson. Both
have information on SYMS at UNH-Durham, UMass Lowell and other summer
music programs. They can also assist you in finding private lessons for
your students!
2008-09 Summer Music Study Scholarship Applications will be made
available in early April 2009, and will be due back before April 2009
School Vacation. Summer Music Study Scholarships are awarded in
May/June based on availability of funds.
Upcoming 2008-09 Events:
Our tentative plans for the 2008-09 school year include: Selling
Entertainment Books, County Stores Fundraising, 7th & 8th grade dance in
January 2009, and more! New ideas are always welcome, subject to the
approval of the MMS Administration and the MMS Music Booster
Organization.
Our
organization is open to anyone (parent, faculty, etc.) who wishes to
support the Milford Middle School Music Program. Our meetings are
generally on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the MMS Band
Room (Room #500). Our first meeting in the
Fall will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008! Come and join us!
